Amie and Christian to lead infection control at Edenhope

Grampians Health Edenhope are very pleased to appoint Christian Vidal and Amie Foley as the infection control nurses for Lakeside Living

The role of an Infection Control Nurse will be to work with the team to minimise the risk of infection for patients, residents and health care workers by maintaining a safe environment for the care of patients and residents and protection for the health care worker. They will ensure that as a facility, infection guidelines are being followed.

Amie is an Endorsed Enrolled nurse and has been at Grampians Health Edenhope for 3 years now. Amie has had experience in infection control from a clinical nursing side of things and is excited to be broadening her knowledge in the area.

“So far I am enjoying all that this new role has to offer. We have just commenced a course through the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control which will keep us busy for the next few months.”

When asked what the most important piece of infection control advice she would like to share she replied….

“Always remember to do proper hand hygiene”

Christian has been with the Grampians Health Edenhope team for just over 2 years, commencing as a Health Care Worker and in the last 8 months as a registered nurse. Christian is thrilled to be successful in his application for this role.

“From the beginning of my practice as a nurse way back to the Philippines I was very interested in infection control because this topic is very complex.  I look forward to learning more about this area of health care.

“Knowing that I can protect my colleagues, consumers and especially myself from potential infections makes me love this job.”

Christian wants everyone to remember the basic principle of infection control which is handwashing.

“It is very simple but very meaningful and important aspect of infection control. Always remember, HANDWASHING will save us a trip to the hospital.”
