Country lifestyle draws Molly Pretlove home for new role

Molly Pretlove spent years in the city, and travelling across Europe, but the pull from rural Victoria never really faded.

Molly was raised on a farm in Minimay, before attending boarding school and university in Adelaide.

“I always knew I’d move back to the country,” she said. “I love the freedom and the farming lifestyle; cities can get a bit overwhelming.”

The Allied Health Assistant role, at Grampians Health Edenhope, presented the opportunity Molly needed, to make the move home.

She’s brought a wealth of expertise and experience back with her, including a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science degree.

It is highly relevant to her new role, which sees Molly working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and district nursing staff.

“A role like this is rare, so I feel very lucky; I love how broad it is,” she said. “My favourite is probably the [Strength and Conditioning] classes we run, and the hydrotherapy sessions. It’s lovely hearing, and seeing, how the clients are improving each week.”

While studying at university, Molly worked as a receptionist at Adelaide Paediatrics.

She then spent seven months in Milan, working as an au pair and travelling at every opportunity.

Not one to sit still, she is now balancing her new job with online study – completing a Graduate Certificate in Sports Injuries and Exercise Rehabilitation.

When she isn’t studying, or working with clients, Molly spends time on her partner’s Mundulla cattle farm.

And, of course, she had no choice but to re-join her old netball team.

The Border Districts Football Netball club was delighted to welcome their gun mid-fielder back into the fold.

“I haven’t played since I left, six years ago, so there was a bit of pressure there,” she said. “I have the same coach as when I was a junior.

“It’s comforting, to have netball again.”

Molly will work in Edenhope four days per week, moving between the HUB, Day Centre, Lakeside Living, hospital wards, bus adventures, and clients’ homes.
