Edenhope is officially 'home' for two Filipino families

Edenhope is officially ‘home’ for two delighted Filipino families, following an emotional citizenship ceremony last week.

Students from St Malachy’s primary school attended, in support of their Grade 4 classmate Raziela (known to most as Ella).

It cements the place of two senior Grampians Health staff members – Tecie Saranillo and Ricardo Flores – who are both Associate Nurse Unit Managers in Edenhope’s acute ward.

Ricardo describes an arduous five-year journey to citizenship, which coincided with COVID-19 lockdowns.

“We had two years without [our daughter] Ella, who was still in the Philippines, but thanked God we could celebrate Christmas here together in 2022,” he said.

“We feel so safe and welcome here in Edenhope and it is a good place to bring up a family.

“It’s small and people are lovely, so we enjoy that peace and community.”

And in exciting news for the organisation - Ricardo’s wife, Jeandamar, was also a registered nurse in the Philippines and is working to transfer her qualifications to Australia.

Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone, for the Saranillo and Flores families.

We are overjoyed you’ve chosen to call Edenhope home!
