Supported Playgroup Visits Lakeside Living Residents

Lakeside Living residents had some special visitors

West Wimmera Shire’s Supported Playgroup visited Lakeside Living today as a part of the Hospital’s new all ages playgroup program.

Following on from the popular ABC documentary old folks home for 4 year olds the idea was floated at the Supported Playgroup that something similar could be done at Edenhope.

Local mum Shelley Hartle who also works at Edenhope & District memorial Hospital sprung into action with the support of Supported playgroups co-ordinator Katrina Shireffs to develop policies and procedures around holding the playgroup sessions at the Lakeside Living facility.

It was hoped that the program could have commenced in early 2020- however it was delayed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Today was the first visit by the children and residents were absolutely delighted to meet with them.

The visitors joined with the residents for morning tea and then they all enjoyed drawing and playing with play dough.

It is planned that the children will continue to hold playgroup with the Lakeside Living residents monthly.
