Strengthening Partnerships

Thank you for your support and feedback

We would like to thank the community for their support and feedback during this consultation period of exploring partnerships with other health services.

This process is so important and has provided great insight to us into our own health facility and what people in the community need from this service.

Overwhelmingly we have received positive feedback on the quality of care that is received at Edenhope & District Memorial Hospital and for that I would like to thank all our staff, I would like to go further to say that I see first hand how much our staff genuinely care and go above and beyond to make sure our residents, patients and clients are cared for to the highest standard.

Asides from this great feedback, I would like to share the key themes coming out from the consultations, these themes will be important factors in the development of the any partnership arrangements.
- No job loss
- Maintain local management, autonomy and budget
- Keep services locally and in our region
- Keep and expand specialist services locally and in our region.

Phase 2 of the project - which includes conducting due diligence, community consultation and developing a business case - is considering three options. These are:
1. 'Do nothing' - this option continues the current and emerging levels of collaboration between the participating organizations as independent organizations.
2. Enhanced collaboration - this option builds on the current level of collaboration between participating organisations.
3. Creation of a new entity through voluntary amalgamation - this option would establish a new health service that delivers the comprehensive breadth of services provided by BHS, EDMH, SRH
and WHCG, utilizing and building on the existing workforces, infrastructure and other resources at each of the health services.

I would like to reiterate to all that no decisions on how or if we will partner with Horsham, Stawell or Ballarat or any other health service have been made. The decision and business case will be driven from the Community consultations and due diligence work that we are undertaking at present.

Consultation is open until May 21 so we encourage you if you have not already to complete a survey. This can be done online via our website, hard copies are available at the post office or the health and wellbeing hub or contact the hospital to have one posted to you.
